Berkeley, CA—After serving for six months as interim publisher of North Atlantic Books (NAB), Tim McKee has accepted the position of publisher. He will continue to guide the strategic direction and core vision of NAB and its imprints, overseeing all acquisitions and editorial functions and safeguarding the financial viability of the organization. “I am honored to serve North Atlantic Books’s mission of publishing cutting-edge books on the transformation of self, society and consciousness,” McKee says. “I work with an exceptional staff, board and management team, as well as a compelling list of authors. I am excited to play a lead role in galvanizing our collective strengths as we develop new and innovative strategies for our next chapter.”
McKee came to NAB in 2013 as acquisitions manager before being promoted to director of publishing, succeeding outgoing publisher Doug Reil in July 2016. McKee previously worked as the managing editor of The Sun magazine and as the grants director for a social-justice foundation in San Francisco. His book No More Strangers Now: Young Voices from a New South Africa was an Honor Book for the Jane Addams Book Award and a Los Angeles Times best-seller.
Alexa Hauser, president of the board of directors of the nonprofit publisher, said, “The board was delighted to find our new publisher within NAB. Tim has shown himself to live the mission intellectually, spiritually and viscerally. We are confident that his leadership will strengthen our impact and value to the communities we serve.”
